The EHS Technician manages and processes chemicals and waste streams to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory and legal standards. This position is required to safely operate various pieces of equipment, focus on inventory control, perform and document facility inspections, andmaintain all applicable training requirements and/or certifications on an annual basis. This role strives to improve quality, reduce costs, shorten lead-times, and increase business performance through continuous improvement and various waste minimization processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collect, deliver, prepare, and/or transfer various chemicals and materials throughout the site (including paint, oil, coolant, and various wastes) with material handling equipment and ensure customer supply needs are promptly addressed. Operate various equipment as assigned (Water Treatment Plant Operations, Forklifts and Genie Booms, Solvent Distiller, Electric Horizontal Grinder, Burn Off Ovens, drum rollers, pumps, trucks etc).

Inspect various equipment and processes across the site to verify that equipment and processes are in compliance with business and regulatory requirements and prepare summary reports.

Maintain supply of chemicals and materials to ensure site operations.

Conduct required regulatory training for EH&S related courses as assigned (ex: chemical and waste handling, PPE requirements, respirator fit-testing, spill response, etc).

Technical degree from a 2- or 4-year college, preferred with 1-2 year experience with hazardous waste, and Hazardous Materials activities; and/or a minimum of high school with 5 years job experience and/or training with paint and chemical processes is required.

Ability to operate personal computer and Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel and Access.
Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to successfully complete required compliance training.

Ability to operate various equipment such as forklift, End Loader, Genie Booms, Horizontal Grinder, Solvent Distillation Unit.

Knowledge in the area(s) of RCRA, OSHA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.

Ability to priortize multiple tasks while supporting the department.

Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

Ability maintaining positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.

Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.

Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.

Ability to prepare materials for recycling such as solvents, paper, and cardboard.

Ability to plan, schedule, receive, store, and deliver chemicals.

Ability to read, interpret, analyze, measure, and track a variety of reports.

Ability to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase customer service.

Ability to read and interpret maps and blue prints.
